Little Pug Holds Silent Vigil

Gail Lese died on October 5, 2020 leaving behind a doting husband, two grown daughters, and a dedicated and loyal dog. Little Fawnie Pretty Girl, a 5-year-old service dog, went everywhere with Gail – car trips, dinners out, and vacations. She was with her throughout her illness and by her side when she passed away.

At the funeral home, this little Pug sat stoically for two days in the blue chair that had been placed beside her mother’s lavender- trimmed casket. She didn’t bark, she didn’t cry, she didn’t run around the funeral home; she just sat and stared lovingly at her mother. On the day of the funeral, bagpipers played while Gail’s casket was carried across the street to the First Presbyterian Church, with Fawnie Girl following close behind. When you are in the funeral business you see some very sad things, but this little dog broke our hearts.

Fawnie Girl has since returned to her home in Florida and we have heard that she is lost without her mother. I’m sure that as time goes on, this sweet little dog will find happiness again – she’s just too sweet and adorable to be this sad.
