Our Coronavirus Safety Precautions (Revised March 16, 2020)

Revisions are highlighted.

The staff of the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home, Inc. in Bentleyville is taking a proactive approach to serving families during the Coronavirus pandemic and national emergency.

As the world looks for ways to stop the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is strongly encouraging “the suspension of large gatherings, events.” He has asked religious leaders to “exercise discretion” in order to mitigate the spread of this virus. The Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association is asking funeral directors to follow suit.

Please be assured, that as always, we will do all that we can to honor the requests of the families we serve, by providing public and private visitations.

However, we will be taking the following safety precautions:

  • In accordance with the Center for Disease Control, the staff will limit the number of people in the funeral home to no more than 10 at a time.
  • We will ask everyone to refrain from having physical contact with others who are gathered at the funeral home.
  • We will ask guests to maintain the 6-foot rule; keeping at least six feet of space between themselves and others. We will place chairs farther apart to maximize social distance.
  • Although we have always maintained clean and sanitary restrooms and facilities, we will increase our efforts to disinfect and sanitize the restrooms, door knobs, and frequently-touched surfaces.
  • We will not be serving coffee or permitting food in the facility.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available.
  • The funeral home staff will enter the names of family and friends into the guest registry book.
  • We will, of course, discourage anyone who is ill from visiting the funeral home.

We realize that travel is being restricted and social distancing is being encouraged. This may prevent loved ones from attending funeral services. Therefore, Marodi Media will be available to record and live-stream the funeral services. The services will be live-streamed on the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Facebook page, with a permanent link added to the funeral home website. There will be no additional charge for this service.

If we are asked to care for someone who passes away as a result of the virus, we will follow the universal standard of care within the funeral industry, as well as the Pennsylvania state law requirements, and the orders of the health authority of jurisdiction.

These standards will be in effect until the state of emergency is lifted.

Our staff is here to serve you during this most difficult and stressful time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at 724-239-2255 or by emailing the funeral home.
