Don't Worry, We've Got you Covered!

New at Richardson Park in Bentleyville.

There have been some unpleasant piles of #2 at Richardson Park in Bentleyville lately. Some large piles.

Most dog owners are good about cleaning up their messes. But suddenly it appears as if some are getting caught off guard when their dog heeds nature’s call. These poor folks need an easy way to grab a bag for this unexpected predicament.

We know it’s awful and gross to step in poo, and it’s even more awful for someone’s dog to get sick after being exposed to it. We want to help keep this from happening to the visitors to our park. We thought a poop-bag dispenser might help and a quick Google search for “DYI poop bag dispenser” did the trick.

It was a fun project, because it involved drinking a 2-liter bottle of ginger ale (not by myself and not in one sitting.) The label was removed, the bottle was cleaned with soapy water, a few cuts were made, and wah-lah: a homemade dispenser. This is upcycling at its best!

We asked for permission to install the dispenser at the park and this weekend we used some zip ties to hang it on a pole.

So, if you are visiting Richardson Park with your dog, please feel free to take a bag if you need one. If you have some extra, empty bags, please add them to the dispenser for others to use.

Kate's dog Buddy approves!
