Buddy: Our Little Hero!
We have a little hero here at the Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home and he weighs 14 pounds, stands a mere 16 inches tall, and sometimes does his business on the floor.
His name is Buddy and he is 10-month-old Shih Tzu/ Bichon mix who belongs to our youngest daughter Kate. He’s a little prince who likes to sleep late, go for car rides, play with toys, and eat treats.
Kate and Tim were home with Buddy and our other dog Bernie, when Kate left to go to the store. Buddy doesn’t like it when she leaves: he gets antsy, shifting into high-alert, staring at the door, and listening for sounds of her return. So, Tim wasn’t too concerned when Buddy started running around and barking after Kate left. He ignored him.
Then Buddy ran into the laundry room and back to the living room to bark at Tim again. He ignored him some more.
Finally, after about 10 minutes of barking and running, Buddy jumped on to the back of the couch and barked at Tim again. Tim thought Buddy was hungry and decided it was time to give him a treat. That's when he noticed a stream of water pouring down the steps from a broken pipe in Kate and Abby’s apartment. After shutting off the water supply, he noticed that water had poured through the ceiling of the garage and had even worked its way into a back section of the funeral home. Some damage had been done, but it would have been much worse if Buddy hadn’t alerted Tim to the water leak. It was definitely a “Timmy’s-in-the-well” moment.
So, today we honor Buddy, who dislikes rain and baths, and made sure Tim knew that a bunch of that wet stuff was coming to get them!
